Great, bright, lustrous cover. And for an author's name to be as large as the title of the book on a debut work of fiction is very unusual indeed. Just goes to show that they wanted to announce her as a big new name of fiction, and she certainly became that quickly when White Teeth was published. Great, eye catching cover. Much replicated since.
Haven't read this book as yet (me with everyone else in the world). Not as good as the other covers, (maybe this had an effect as well as the reviews?). But still a nice design, better than most. And the paperclip is a neat touch.
The cover for the 2007 Orange Prize for Fiction winning book, On Beauty. I bought this book in an airport and read the whole thing on the way back from Tuscany, Italy. It made me laugh out loud once and I enjoyed it. Fucking porn cover. Thought her characteristion had grown up a lot since White Teeth.
This is a slim volume of two short stories by Zadie Smith, as part of an anniversary special release by Penguin. Lovely cover again. Apparently Smith liked his cover so much she asked for the "confetti" from the front to keep as a memento, but in actual fact, it was just holepunched random pages from someone's Penguin office. And they had thrown them out long before.
