Promotional Posters

In amongst all the brouhaha about Daniel Radcliffe getting his kit off for Peter Shaffer's play Equus was this well designed and innovative poster for the play. Great seamless transition from adolescent torso into horse's nose, who would have thought? Great graphic design, and the flickering scan lines add an eerie quality. This horse reminds me of the horse in The Ring.

I really, really love the concept of this poster and think it is a smart idea, but I do think it could have been better executed. Great idea but for a start I think the letter should be more spaced out like realistic eye test boards, and I also think the poster should allow for more lines. For instance, it needs to be clear cut to the viewer straight away the gimmick and cleverness of the ad, and because of the type font I and layout of the title I don't think this is necessarily true. I would have had the letters spaced further apart and B on its own line, then LI, then NDN and finally ESS. Would have made it more obvious and eye catching I feel. Still nice design. The film will open at Cannes 2008 and stars Julianne Moore.
