No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
A CNN report on the filming of the adaptation of Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, in Botswana. I watched this and it was a brilliant adaptation and great film in its own right. Jill Scott and the rest of the cast did a great job, including the ever consistently brilliant Nikki Amuka-Bird, playing against type - as much as she has one.
The great thing this CNN report flags up is that Botswana's Minister for Health moonlights as an actress and appears in the film!
Directed by the great Anthony Minghella, who passed away on the day of the premiere. (Director of films such as Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr. Ripley and The English Patient). RIP.
